Festive Favourites in London this Winter

It's safe to say that Christmas is fast-approaching (how quickly has this year gone?!) and the festivities here in London are well and truly about to take off!

U&I Travel have picked some of our favourite happenings which are taking place all over London between now and Christmas which we think you're going to love!

Cue X factor... and in no particular order...

1. Winter Wonderland

Embrace the Christmas spirit as Winter Wonderland returns to London's Hyde Park and it's now open! This free-to-enter family event is one of the best things to do in London at Christmas. Featuring a huge selection of festive entertainment and activities, from ice skating and circus shows to a Christmas market and live music, there's enough fun things to do to fill a whole day and evening.

Here are our top tips:

- Buy tickets in advance (book yours here).

- Visit during weekdays if possible, rather than evenings or weekends (to avoid mega busyness!)

- Wrap up warm!

- Take your kids, there's lots for them to enjoy, including meeting Santa!

- Use contactless when making payments (cash is also accepted).

2. Hogwarts in the snow

Winter has arrived at the wizarding world, with a true festive makeover. Glittering Christmas trees line the Great Hall and a replica festive feast including flaming Christmas puddings is laid out on the long tables; while the top section of the hall is transformed for the Yule Ball with snow, icicles and an orchestra of magical instruments.

3. Ice skating at Natural History Museum

Skate in the magical atmosphere of the Natural History Museum’s open-air Ice Rink.

Nestled in front of the iconic South Kensington museum, the spectacular rink is surrounded by thousands of fairy lights and features a glittering Christmas tree.

Visit the museum’s alpine-style Café Bar for winter warmers and watch the skaters glide on the ice from the cafe’s balcony.

4. Christmas Afternoon Tea at The Ritz

An absolute classic, Christmas Afternoon Tea at The Ritz is hard to beat. In fact, it’s nearly booked out for Xmas 2019 already – so move quickly! The Ritz’s famed Christmas afternoon tea is served in The Palm Court, which has been transformed into an Edwardian winter wonderland with a lavishly decorated Christmas tree in the centre of the room. In addition to the finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve, and an assortment of teas, there will be mince pies and festive pastries and cakes, plus carols from The Ritz choir. The afternoon tea includes a glass of Ritz Champagne for adults and a Ritz teddy bear for children. From £80 per adult and £50 per child (up to 15 years old). Available from 23 November-30 December 2018 at 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm sittings, excluding Christmas Day, when Father Christmas will make a special visit to The Ritz with presents for the kids at their 11.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.30pm sittings.
