We’ve heard the album, we’ve been following the journey online, and now we can’t wait for the brand new musical “Broken Wings” to premiere in London’s West End on August 1st.
Tickets are on sale now, and you can get yours from just £15 (saving a huge 64% on RRP!) by clicking here.
Based on the story of Lebanese poet, Kahlil Gibran, Broken Wings was written by Middle Eastern duo Nadim Naaman (Phantom of the Opera) and composer Dana Al Fardan. The story visits Gibran’s life in Beirut when he was just 18 years old, when he fell in love with Selma Karamy, and goes on to explore how he fought for her love after her interests are directed elsewhere. The musical is produced by Ali Matar, with Orchestrations by Joe Davison and is Directed by Bronagh Lagan.
The musical adaptation of Gibran’s “Broken Wings” highlights key themes and debates of the time, all which remain relevant in the world today; freedom, gender equality, wealth versus happiness, and the importance of “home”, all which are emphasised in the dramatic and touching sounds of the score, which we’ve been lucky enough to have already heard!
The cast features some of the West Ends biggest names, including Rob Houchen (Les Misérables), Soophia Foroughi (Spamalot) and more.
You can also check out Nadim Naaman's interview with Broadway World, talking all things #BrokenWings right here.
The first show will be on 1st August at the Theatre Royal Haymarket (London, SW1Y 4HT) and runs until 4th August, with a matinée performance on the 4th at 2.30pm, too.
The U&I team have been asked to help out with organising drinks receptions and general hospitality during the production week here in London, and we are extremely excited to be getting stuck in! Watch this space for our post-event post which will be coming shortly after the musical finishes.
