On Saturday 24th February, the forever-growing #WomenInBusiness event "Diamonds & Deals" RETURNED, and this time, the Diamond Dolls took over Milton Keynes. The event took place at Missoula Montana Bar & Grill.
After two successful events in London in 2017, whereby guests had the opportunity to hear the success stories from some famous faces such as Bianca Gascoigne (Entrepreneur and Celebrity Big Brother finalist) and Jessica Cunningham (Entrepreneur and contestant of BBC's The Apprentice), Gemma (GEMMEDIA) & Natalie (U&I Lifestyle) decided that it was time to change it up a little bit, and take the brand to Milton Keynes. With so many up-and-coming businesses, and with more and more Femtrepreneur's opening up businesses in MK, the girls thought it would be the perfect spot to expand the brand out to.
Following the theme of the previous events, Gem and Nat continued to support their chosen charity, Target Ovarian Cancer.
"We feel like Target Ovarian Cancer is the perfect charity for Diamonds & Deals to collaborate with. Not only does it match with our theme of bringing women together, but it gives the charity the opportunity to share their knowledge and information about Ovarian Cancer with a room full of 50-60 young women, who may not know much about the disease. It's a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness", said Natalie Naaman, Founder and MD of U&I Lifestyle and partnering creator of Diamonds & Deals.
The all-day women's networking event kicked off at mid-day with Natalie (@natnaaman2807 @uilifestyleltd) & Gemma (@gemmediamk @fashionshowmk) welcoming the guests, and taking a cheeky photo of everyone #forthegram, obviously!
This time around, the business owners were joined by a variety of guest speakers, all who are successful Femtrepreneur's in both Milton Keynes and London.
Guest speakers included: Amy Thurley (@evokefitness), Lucy Walton (@lucyfoxwalton), Becca Pountney (@engageweddings), Sonia Randev (@thefootieweekly), Laura Jayne Surace (@lauragarnett5), Hannah Armitage (@hannaharmitage), Chantelle Ojo (@targetovarian), Emma Gill (@emma_semento), and Rochelle Anthony (@thedollshousebeauty).
The ladies that attended have all come from different backgrounds. Some worked in the beauty industry, others worked in travel, sports PR, weddings and events and more. It was truly inspirational to hear how each woman begun their business journey, and the honesty that was shared with regards to the humps and bumps that had been experienced along the way (which seemed to be a running theme!) was extremely motivating.
There were a few quotes that were said on the day which we absolutely loved, and we thought that we must share these with you...
"Have a plan, don't let negative thoughts & opinions get in your way, and believe in yourself" - Natalie Naaman, U&I Lifestyle
"Patience, hard work and dedication, are the three things you need to be successful" - Rochelle Raye, The Dollshouse Hair Salon
"If you're doing what you love, it's not work" - Hannah Armitage
We also learned that due to the lack of awareness, only 35% of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer survive. With this in mind, we believe it is SO important to share as much information as possible as we can with you about this awful disease.
Persistent bloating - not bloating that comes and goes
Feeling full quickly and/or loss of appetite
Pelvic or abdominal pain (that's your tummy and below)
Urinary symptoms (needing to wee more urgently or more often than usual)
Occasionally there can be other symptoms:
If you are experiencing any of the above, please make sure that you consult your GP as soon as possible.
Both Gemma and Natalie would like to thank every single person who was involved in the contribution of making their event another huge success! Thank you to Target Ovarian Cancer for teaming up with us once again, thank you to the fabulous guest speakers for sharing their inspirational success stories, to our wonderful guests for attending and showing their support, and to Missoula Montana MK for looking after us and providing absolutely DELICIOUS food (you should definitely check them out if you haven't already!).
So, with the third "Diamonds and Deals" event proving to be the best yet, it would only seem natural to take things even FURTHER...
"We've got a VERY exciting event coming up in just a couple of months. Nat and I will be announcing our next steps over the next few days, and believe us when we say that Diamonds & Deals is continuing to grow and we are even branching off in directions that you probably wouldn't be expecting! We can't wait to share more information with you all, so watch this space!" said Gemma Burnikell, founder and MD of GemMedia and partnering creator of Diamonds & Deals.
