About a week ago, we returned from what was one of the most relaxing and gorgeous Winter breaks. Luckily for us, we had a few meetings which just HAPPENED to be in Dubai. I mean, we really didn't want to go, but it was insisted... (who are we kidding?!). It was amazing.
As you may or may not know, U&I Concierge is partners with the Starwood Hotel Group, meaning that whenever any of our members go pretty much anywhere in the world, there's a fabulous hotel for us to book them in to. Oh, and they always get some luxurious perks and discounts, too. Not bad, eh? You can click here to find out more about that.
So, as soon as we knew we were off to Dubai, we checked out which Starwood Hotels were out there and took our pick. We went for The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina (a bit of a mouth full, let's just stick to "The Westin" from here on!). We hadn't stayed at The Westin before, so it was all very exciting for us!
We enjoyed a very comfortable flight on the way there. Thank you to British Airways for the fantastic service and incredible in-flight entertainment. Who isn't happy with a 3 course meal, champagne, and their favourite TV show whilst thousands of feet up in the air?!
We didn't arrive until around midnight, so we headed straight to the hotel to check in and get into bed, ready for the week ahead.
I had two big beds to choose from...
... and was welcomed with a lovely greeting from The Westin team.
Now. This little object above, otherwise known as Handy. This was the best/smartest idea I have ever come across in the hospitality industry when it comes to travel! Handy was a little smart phone, already connected to the internet and to ready for you to make free calls whilst in the country. Already downloaded on the phone were apps that we all love to use whilst abroad; Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook... and this was just there, waiting for me in my hotel room! How cool is that? We all know that we struggle with WiFi when abroad, and we don't want to spend hundreds of pounds with our data roaming, so this really was incredible. If anyone from The Westin or Starwood is reading this, then THANK YOU!
Anyway, after I spent some time playing with and admiring my new friend, Handy, I hit the sack.
Our first day involved sunbathing, sunbathing, and more sunbathing...
What I loved about The Westin, was that even though the hotel was busy, we never felt over crowded or cramped when we were on the beach. Sometimes you go to a beach and the beds are basically on top of one another, nobody likes that! This was wonderful. The service throughout the day was great, too. The fact that we had 30 degree heat, no humidity, and a beautiful breeze, just topped everything off!
This is just us showing off our artistic skills. Talented, we know.
The waiters would bring us freezing cold hand towels every hour or so to cool us off. Ideal!
Later in the week, I decided to check out the Hotel Gym. I was really impressed. It wasn't huge, but it had everything that I needed; a nice selection of cardio machines, with a relatively big weights/floor area with plenty of equipment to get stuck into.
